Unless you're playing a composition dependent strategy, just go with the proper play for your new hand total, using basic strategy. For example, suppose you have a two-card 9 and the dealer is showing a deuce. You hit your 9, get a 3 and now you have a three-card total of 12. What's the proper play for a 12 v. 2? That's right, you hit. There you have it.
