for you to be embarrassed or angry. SP is similar to el cortez in it's aggressive backoffs of anyone spreading even mildly or even worse, just players that are winning. Just like EC, they are super paranoid. Must be a Gaughan family thing.
Rather than being embarrassed or angry, you just learn from the experience. If you want to continue to play there (for whatever reason), you tailor your attack to their weak tolerance level. Otherwise, you make better use of your time and play somewhere else.
Play 6 deck - LS. Just don't spread. Is it beatable? Sure but not with a small bankroll. Look in Burning the Tables by John McGregor.
to both of you for the kind words. Until after I posted my original message, I had not done any research on SP. Bad on me. I could have saved a trip to that place if I had just looked them up in google.
Anywho.. Up 1k for the trip so far, having a good time. Finding a good game is a bit tough without the newsletter, but I am treating it like a adventure.. Never know what i am going to find.
This approach only works because I am here having fun.. I make my income in AC, NJ.. Counting 6 decks out there has made DD a breeze!

And even that might be pushing it at higher limit games. They basically want people who, if they spread at all, do so very slowly over a very long period of time or basically just parlay 1x or 2x per shuffle. Spreads of 1-4 or 1-6, even betting red chips, is not tolerated. It's just the way they are.
That said, Southpoint is a considered a pretty good comp house so if you give them 45 to 90 minutes of black action (FLAT BETTING) or some short sessions of intense VP play you'll get good offers in the mail and their hotel is a nice place to stay (even though it's out of the way).
The good side of SP is that they backoff so many players that no other casino takes any flyer they might send out seriously. (i.e., backoffs at Southpoint carry no LV Citywide consequences).

I lasted twenty minutes the only session I ever played there and I was losing! As BP says you might use them for comps. Still I'd hate the idea of flat betting as I'd want to at least play a break even game. IMO the place is a waste of time.
You probably did everything perfectly but you stayed and played too long !
Why are you way down there instead of playing at MGM, NY, Aria and Cosmo? And other places in that area?
They aren't much better than South Point either -- both drip with sweat, ugh. Three of the four places mentioned by the poster as alternatives to South Point are really about the same as South Point in terms of unfriendliness towards players who are not total idiots.
Although it's a very interesting read and has some good info in it, this book was written when the BJ world was very different than it was today. The idea that your comportment (conduct) along with the ultimate gambit strategy can save you from back offs during marathon sessions of rated play is a concept of historical value only. They will quickly give you the boot, especially at higher stakes.
