Planning on going to Aruba. Any insight into available games would be appreciated. TIA.

Here is an portion of a mail message I sent to another board member last year. I was in Aruba in April, 2002.

To visit all the casinos requires a car, but you can get around by taxi pretty easily and all fares are set by the government and are reasonable. Most of the hotels on the Palm Beach strip have casinos and the strip is about two miles long. There are also several casinos in the town of Oranjestad. The Sonesta here had the best games of the few casinos that I observed. Comps wre much tighter that LV or AC. Here is a quick rundown of what I saw:

Wyndham, All CSM, DAS, DA2 (except for 100 min 6D, closely watched)

Radisson, 4.5/6 DAS DA2, 2D 70+ pen, D10

Aruba Grand, 2 tables, 3/6 when I stopped in, don't bother

Sonesta 5/6, DAS, DA2, ENHC (dealer dep pen)

The casinos open up around 4pm. Nice place - enjoy it.

I've been to Aruba a couple of times in the past two years. I am also going back around Thanksgiving. The games vary from casino to casino so you must shop around. Many of the casinos do not open until late afternoon but I found the game downtown in the early morning to be a good one. Uncrowded, no heat. In the evening some of the casinos get crowded but it is the low stakes tables. At the Alhambra the $5 tables were packed but I found an empty $10 and spread 1-12 with no problems at all. Aruba is a beautiful place to visit and the casual atmosphere is very relaxing. Enjoy!
