I don't "gamble" either -- explanation
Bigplayer is absolutely correct.
This has previously been addressed, but is worth repeating.
Most advantage players do not like to be called "gamblers."
A gambler is someone who knows they will probably lose, but plays anyway hoping to "get lucky" in the short run (ploppies, slot players, etc., etc.)
An advantage player is really an "investor," investing time and money in an endeavor that in the long run is expected to return a profit to him or her, though there may be short-term losses. Skilled stock market participants are "investors," not "gamblers." The skilled BJ player is the same.
I make a living by playing BJ many hours a week, but I am not a "gambler," which to me implies "loser." When I don't have the advantage, I will immediately cease risking my money. The "action" itself is meaningless to me.
Maybe another way of explaining the difference: A "gambler" sees money as a means to "action"; a skilled advantage player ("investor" or whatever other term may be more appropriate in the BJ world) sees the "action" as a means to get money.
Hope this helps.
