Actually defeating facial recognition

Here is a subject that's near and dear to me, makeup. OK not traditional make up but special effects makeup, radical stuff like prosthetics and the like. Anyway the problem is in being able to apply something in the field in under 5 minutes. You should be able to carry it in your pocket and conceal it easily.

The only thing that I can come up with that wouldn't take years of training would be rigid colodian also known as scar liquid. Basically it's plastic in an ether solution so you can paint it on your skin, it dries in a minute and you can create instant scars. More than that you can create a large acid burn on the side of your face in a matter of minutes. It comes in bottles a little bigger than a nail polish bottle. It's also fairly inexpensive.

It does look a tad shiney though but I don't know if the eye in the sky will pick that up. Anyway would this have a chance in defeating facial recognition?

I heard that it has something to do with the distance between your eyes or it can scan your eyes somehow, which are things that makeup couldn't overcome. But like I said, this is just crude gossip. I have no facts whatsoever.

Like Bang-Bang said the Facial Recognition does scan for the distance between the eyes and also other distances on your face. An article which was included in Ian Anderson's new book talked about the Facial Regonition software and how much of a massive failure it is! (Thankgod)

Ian Anderson's book also quotes the "The Card Counters Guide to Casino Surveillance" stating that in order for it to work you need a perfect picture of the suspect with no obstructions.

Too sum it up Ian gives a summary to reduce the effectiveness of FRS.

1) Keep your head down. This will make it difficult to get a 90 degree face shot. Keep your head down even on the table. There is no surveillance in the restrooms.

2) Wear glasses or hats. This will reduce some of the measurbale points and frustrate identification.

3) Halloween and New Year's eve are especially good times to play with impunity.

And lastly the book says the technology is 5 to 10 years away from overcoming it's inherent difficulties.

Even though I summed up some of the info in from Ian's book I recommend you still go out and get it if you haven't. After reading it I don't think you will be as worried as you are now.

I'm just starting off so it's not a big concern of mine. The distance between the eyes would be more difficult to alter, doable but not with the other restraints of a counter. Wearing sunglasses is a great idea though. Poker players wear them to conceal eye based tells and to conceal what they are doing so it makes sense.
