Action on behalf of (The Mayor)?

First of all, I will chime in and state that I agree with the vast majority of posters who are fundamentally opposed to the gist of the Mayors idea's. There is really no reason for me to reiterate the strong and sound retorts of others.

It appears that the Mayor is prepared to forge ahead with legal precedings as his most recent post, in spite of the vast opposition to his plans, asked for opinions from lawyers. If the Mayor does proceed with his plans, it no longer is "Action on behalf of proficient players", but rather, action on behalf of the Mayor.

It is readily apparant that the Mayor has spent a great deal of thought and time in the preparation of his plans. I won't present any anologies, but history is choc full of those who become blinded by their own self obsessed ideas to the detriment of those they think they are serving.

Mayor, I believe that your "constituency" has spoken quite loudly, and to act in a manner which is in disaccordance with those you claim to represent would really only amount to an attempt at self-aggrandization.

I've been a member of these boards and GC for a while now and Mayor does not represent my views and he should speak on his behalf, not mine.

I am giving due consideration to all opinions. I am working on three principles:

1) The casinos will allow the change to take place
2) The majority of proficient players support the change
3) The change will not harm the game

Examples of issues that satisfy 1-3 are the following:
*Challenging the rights of casinos to illegally search or detain proficient players.
*Challenging Griffin and Biometrica's (and other detective agencies) right to share information.

What may not be apparent to you, but I would like to stress, is that I am listening. I am taking in the information that is being presented. I want to hear all the opinions, the professional player, the lawyer, the casino executive. I want to hear arguments that state this is futile, and those that state it is necessary. I want to hear everything there is to say on this issue so that ultimately, the action that goes forth represents our interests.

Gaming companies would clearly benefit from the creation of a sterile
BJ enviornment as it exists in New Jersey. Margins would be higher and costs would be lower... overhead associated with extra surveillance, Biometrica, Griffin, etc. could be greatly reduced. I would not be at all surprised if a consortium of gaming companies were to try to re-create the Uston/NJ phenom. and pay someone under the table to bring suits that could spread that phenom. accross other geographic areas. They would know, as do I, that having no procedural protection from 30x1-spreading gunslingers would ultimately change the game to their benefit forever... New Jersey has already demonstrated that fact for them.

Because your proposals would indisputably do harm to the game and benefit gaming companies, how can we be sure just exactly what your motives and connections are, Mayor?

Am glad you are being judicious in hearing all the voices both pro and con. Seeing your post above is a wide departure from where you first weighed in. My recollection of your initial proposals went something like .. "I will spread 1 to 50 and count outloud if I chose to; and they have to deal single decks at me just as fast as they can"

Or something lile that. :-)

But to your first point above: isn't it already illegal to detain and search someone, even in a casino? Arn't you really now talking about enforcement of laws already on the books? If the law in Nevada won't do it now, who is going to make them?

And the second point (which if you have a basis for action, I think this one is getting close): If the casino notifies a patron, in advance, that their picture may be taken for security purposes, is that illegal? Possibly distributing that picture to others [third party casino, PI agency, Griffin] might be.

Where is your support for this????

Judging by the responses you have received to your posts, you're not getting much support at all. Have you run a survey? Do you have a solid number to support your statement? You certainly don't speak for me and I would like to see solid numbers to support your broad statement.

Some folks are getting tired of his egomaniacal plastering the message boards with "I'm the world's greatest player and I wanna be the next Ken Uston and destroy advantage blackjack" act.

And others are supportive, both publically on these boards and in private email, of the issues being discussed. Still others want their opinions to be heard and to be part of any action that may or may not take place. And many are opposed to every action.

The most important part of this discussion is the honest discussion that is taking place, it is long overdue.

These threads have been without flames, they have been honest examinations of the issues, and have been honest attempts from people with a variety of backgrounds and motivations to express what's important to them.

I welcome your involvement in a positive way.

I would rather push for legislation to make ALL casino gambling ILLEGAL in the United States, because all this issue proves is that the casino industry is a scummy business that will do anything they can to financially destroy its customers. The casino is not a welfare office who is in business just to hand out money to people who know how to card count, they are a ruthless business that takes money from mentally ill degenerate gamblers. My whole problem with what you are doing is that your motive isn't to help the advantage player but to make a name for yourself, of this "look at me, I'm suing the casinos so I'm a message board big shot (and please visit my web site)"; the rantings of someone who isn't interested in making money but of someone with an ego problem. If you are successful then you can kiss advantage play blackjack goodbye because if they are forced to accept all comers then they're going to respond by dealing an unbeatable game. Do you want the whole blackjack world to turn into Atlantic City, or worse? And from what I see, most of the pros on these boards disagree with what you are doing, and the ones who agree with you aren't advantage players but people who DREAM of becoming advantage players, and think what you are doing will open up the key to the vault for them. If you don't like how casinos treat card counters then find another way to make money at gambling or get a job, because gambling isn't supposed to be easy money for every lazy bum who knows how to count to + or - 1.
