When dealt an 11 in a high count, knowing how many aces are remaining would help you determine whether a double would be profitable against a higher card say a 9 or 10, drawung an ace on an 11 is not good. Whereas drawing an ace on a 10 is a great option. What count systems are good for this, merely a side count of aces with the Hi Lo system?
Systems that count the Ace as neutral could do the job, ex. Hi-Opt I, AO II, etc. Such counts have a slightly better success rate at doubling down and splitting pairs. The only thing bad about it is that you need a side count of Aces to raise the Betting Correlation, as these ace-neutral counts have a lower BC than ace-reckoned ones.
Snyder's Zen Count ( a level-2 ), counts the ace as -1 ( instead of -2 ). This keeps the BC high enough ( about 97% ) and a respectable Playing Efficiency ( PE )- 63%.
Think about what you are suggesting. The ratio of 10's to Aces is
4:1. Are you suggesting that you may not double 11 against a 9 or 10
if there are a few extra aces in the pack. For me not to double in that case every other card would need to be an ace. Forget ace side
counts, they are history.
there's an exception. An ace-side count could add significantly to your win rate in pitch games, as most BJ simulations have shown.
My problem with single or DD is availability of a playable game
to justify the effort. Too many players or half the pack cut-out.
If side counts were viable, you would see a great deal of attention
to methods and detail, you don't. 30-40 years ago, yes.
