A problem determining penetration

I'm going on a trip to Laughlin with my family (my parents and my brother). Anyway they all like to sit at the same table so that will take up for spots just for us. Many people say that any more than people at a table and it's not worth playing so we would have to sit at an empty table. The problem is that I don't think that you can determine the penetration at a table that is empty. I guess if one person was there and it looked good we could sit down and someone could let out a huge stinky fart and hope that he would leave. Somehow this doesn't seem like a great idea, any suggestions?

The rest don't sit down until right after the cut card goes in. Assuming you're the only one that knows how to count, don't you be the one that sits first. You be the one who tells everyone else to come in (after the cut card placement meets your approval).

Hey that's a great idea, I'll difinately try it if I can talk my family into it. Some of the members of my family just want to sit down and play, have never considered penetration and don't play basic stradegy. I'm learning to play correctly and they want me to prove them wrong by winning alot, I try to explain fluctuations of probability and sustainable BRs but they don't listen. It seems that until I have some super good trips they will continue their ploppy ways.

Are there any really good arguments that I can use to convince them that they are wrong. Math doesn't seem to work on them so I don't know what to do. I guess that I could just be happy playing a better game then they are but it hurts to see them making bad plays though none of them ever splits tens. I think I can teach them the better rules to look out for, those seem to makes sense to them.
