Unfortunately, these scammers are everywhere and as long as they can hide in another country, they can steal at will.

I just never fully trusted online casinos. Perhaps there were some that were legit, but I had no idea which ones were (and which ones were not).
It wasn't worth the risk for me. Having said that, the whole thing is a moot point now.
