I was tapped on the shoulder at the Hard rock on Saturday. It was the first time it has happened to me anywhere. But they went as far as reading me the trespassing act and threatening to arrest me if I ever come back. Does any one have any ideas why they would go this far and how this will affect me on future trips?
it is likely that they thought you were someone else playing under an alias. You will not be able to play the Hard Rock again. It probably won't affect you elsewhere, but if you look like a known threat they may have added your name to the other guys list of aliases. In that case it may or may not cause problems. If a casino asks you for your ID out of the blue you'd probably do best to comply so they can verify that you are not the other guy.
If you weren't counting and sincerely believe they should not have taken any action, you might consider writing a letter to the Casino Manager and explain what happened. I do know that certain players, especially if previously good customers, have managed to get prior backoffs reversed at other properties but it is an extremely rare occurance. Note that if you do get your backoff reversed and the HR does indeed subsequently find out that you are an advantage player they will do their absolute best to screw you with the rest of casinos in Las Vegas. (and who could blame them!)
the mere fact that you've posted on this board and were so specific with your information has probably taged you as a counter anyway (where you are or not). Hard Rock's surveillence department has already entered the fact that you've posted here on your Activity Card.
Thanks bigplayer. I am actually not a counter. But I'm not stupid either. I am out there 3 times a year. Not worth my time to learn how to count. I was told to post here by a cab driver who counts cards that I happened to tell the story to. He says maybe I would get some info. I think they feel I was someone else as well. I may write them a letter. I wish I was winning at least.
the guy was not a card counter. I know this for a FACT because I was gambling at the same table when security threw him out. This idiot was a big pain in the ass to the players as well as the pit. The jerk would consistently say he did not signal for a hit when he busted or place a bet close to his original bet and if he was dealt a winning hand he would tell the dealer he doubled down while the dealer was squaring up table bets. He also used many other verbal and annoying tactics,on one occasion when the dealer called for insurance, he placed what appeared to be a double down bet near the line. When the dealer flipped over the ace and began to take his money he shouted " Woe! What you be doing man, that's my insurance bet,ya know what I'm saying!?"
Needless to say after the pitboss made several (far too many) trips to the table over disputes, the drunk jackoff was finally 86'ed. I was relieved and content with the decision made by the pit, and NO I'm not a pit boss, anyone here who recognizes my handle can assure you this.
I'm not saying saying or implying you were 86'ed for cheating, but rather implying that not everyone should assume (I surely dont) that everybody who makes post on the internet about being barred does not mean they are professional high rolling card counters, this is often far from the truth.

I had a similar experience at HR. They are real jerks there. The casino manager showed up with 3 gorillas and wanted to 86 me. I explained to him that we were staying in the hotel. Bottom line is he let me stay but said I could no longer gamble at any games. They could have been much more polite. I would keep sessions there short and strike primarily on weekends when bigger action is common.

i havent been there in a while because the games sucked real bad.the pen was god awful on dd.have things changed since then.the heat sounds like it hasnt changed.
and move on. Big thugs with no brains and nothing going for them. Thats why they have the job they do.
Thanks for vindicating me. Last month I posted that there are burn joints in Vegas. I classified the Hard Rock as a burn joint. I also indicated it really was not worth while for me to travel to Vegas because I have just as good if not better games here in Minnesota. Then a guy from Reno ripped into me. I was in Vegas last year in February and let me tell you they definetly were not playing my tune. It even sucks to get drunk there. The only reason to go there is on Saturday nights in the hopes you may get to see a celebrity.
I'd bet you a dime to a dollar that the cab driver you saw was a former frequent poster here who went by the name Hitdog. He went into hibernation a couple of years ago and he is missed by many of us.
