Is it possible to beat an 8 Deck Game? The only casinos that are close have 8 decks and a 6 deck penitration.
I am ready to spend the time and effort to become an advantage player. I want to learn to count cards and have the confidence I will be successful. My question is, can you beat an 8 Deck Game?

It is possible to beat 8 decks if you wong out frequently, and use quite a large spread.
But, it is really tough to make money at 8-deck even for a professional. Losing streaks can be terrifying for new players, and may put you off for life.
Consider saving your money for travel expenses or looking at lower variance advantage play opportunities.
That is exactly the type of answer I want. It sounds to me like I need to pursue another path. I only have casinos with 8 decks available and trips to Vegas or Atlantic City would be only 1 or 2 times a year. Not worth the effort to me. I really wanted to become a BJ expert and possibly a professional in the future.
What exactly is "Wong out"?
"Wonging" is a technique made popular by our host here at BJ21, Stanford Wong. In his book professional blackjack he presented the idea of only playing when the count favored the player. In effect, standing behind the table (not looking obvious of course) and counting, only joining the game when it gets good; leaving when it gets bad.
Wonging in is joining the game when it is good.
Wonging out is leaving when it is bad.
Thansk for the explaination on "Wong Out". The things I am learning here is not making me want to pick BlackJack as my passion. It does not seem like I would be able to beat an 8 Deck game. Does anyone have any thoughts?
