Never Double
A little misunderstanding, here. Of course one should double - whenever the expected payout is more than for any other option. I was just responding to a prior question that asked how one can maximize the number of hands won by sacrificing dollars won.
I guess "Never" was too strong a word - one can still maximize the number of hands won if one doubles 10 and 11 against 3,4,5,6 since I can't come up with a situation where one would take more than one card.
If I had the interest, I would also calculate the COST of this strategy.
One interesting point, however, is that sometimes EV is maximized for some doubling situations only at high counts when a maximum bet is out. Personally, I get a little nervous doubling a $100 bet (I'm just a red chip player) for 10v10, so I'll just hit instead.
