PBA requires a PC running Microsoft Windows 3.1, Windows 95 or 98, in 800x600 or
higher resolution. The recommended configuration is a Pentium processor with
32MB of RAM, but PBA will run on a 486 with 16MB. Windows 95/98 is the
recommended operating environment. Although the present version of PBA should
run under Windows 3.1, it has not been fully tested in that environment.
While not supported for the Windows NT and Windows emulators for other operating
systems, some of the initial beta testing indicates that PBA will run in these
environments. Please contact us if you would like to use PBA on these unsupported systems.
PBA currently can be downloaded from this website, or can be supplied on a CDROM.
Here is how to get PBA up and running on Windows XP, thanks to Hal Marcus of Stickysoft Corp.: Disable your anti-virus software. Use the "Program Compatibility Wizard" as follows: Click the Start button and go to All Programs / Accessories, and click Program Compatibility Wizard. Click Next in the first screen. Click "I want to locate the program manually", and click next. Click Browse, and go to the location on your hard drive where PBA is. Click on the name of the program file (for me, it is pba437.exe), and click Next. Click Microsoft Windows 95, and click next. Check "Disable visual themes", and click next. Click next — the program should begin to install. After installation, click "Yes, set this program to always use these compatibility settings." If this does not work, repeat the above steps.
