The Strategy Analyzer uses a combinatorial algorithm to produce the strategies. This method is slightly less accurate, but much faster than direct simulation (direct simulation is used in the Simulator module). New in version 4.3.7 is an option to specifically remove the first two player cards, in addition to the dealer up-card, from the sampling deck. This produces more accurate strategies, but at a cost of speed.
Below, the various Blackjack Reports are summarized. Examples of the output of each report
are also provided, in the form of Adobe PDF files. The report format shown in the PDF files
is identical to what would be printed out as hard copy from PBA. All of the examples below
use the rule set shown in the strategy report below:
A summary of the reports in PBA...Dealer Hand Probabilities The Dealer Hand Probability report displays the probability of the dealer arriving at a total of 17 through 21, or busting, as a function of the dealer up-card. This report is generated for every true or running count requested. Initial Hand Probabilities The Initial Hand Probability report displays the probability of the player receiving a given initial two card hand, as a function of true or running count. Count Distribution This report displays the distribution of running or true counts. By viewing the count distribution associated with a game, one can quickly determine what range of counts are important to consider in a particular system. This is particularly relevant for determining which strategy indices to memorize. In fact, if the specified count range is too small, a warning will appear in this report, and a more appropriate range will be suggested! Top Strategy Deviations Many of the analysis features in PBA have been combined to produce a report of the most significant strategy indices (up to 20). The idea is patterned after Don Schlesinger's "Illustrious Eighteen" concept, but can now be extended to any game and set of rules desired, including for user-defined decks. Expectation The expected profit for every possible player hand versus every dealer up-card, is calculated and displayed in the expectation reports. Moreover, the expected profit tables for deviating from the optimal strategy can also be saved and used to determine the penalty for misplaying hands. View, print, or save these reports. Bonus Hand Expectation If bonus rules have been selected, such as a special pay bonus on three sevens, then the probabilities of achieving the bonus starting with any two or more bonus cards is displayed in the Bonus Hand Expectation report. In addition, changes to the count strategy due to the bonus rule are computed and displayed in the index reports. |
