Do we really need this?

Kevin Blackwood has recently pubished a book along the same lines, and at least he says he has played. I don't expect much from that one and even less from someone who has never played.
The Counter by Kevin Blackwood
THE COUNTER is a 312-page novel in which the protagonist, Raven Townsend, decides he's too good for Maine and shuns his poor New England upbringing. His grandiose plans of becoming a famous Biblical archaeologist suddenly get shelved when he takes a detour into the world of high stakes blackjack. His exceptional mathematical gifts, phenomenal memory, and incredible determination enable him to succeed where most fail-but at the expense of his girlfriend and his previous dreams. The story removes many of the mysteries surrounding the intriguing life of a professional card counter, certainly one of the world's most unique professions.
Raven is driven to win a million dollars and nearly reaches his goal when, because of his skill, he becomes too good for Vegas and is barred at nearly all blackjack tables. Desperate, he joins forces with Marco Antonelli, his ethical and moral opposite. Their volatile partnership produces a dramatic, page-turning finish in casinos from Reno to the Caribbean.
