Many people will be surprised to learn that this is Don Schlesinger's first book because Don has been well-respected in the literature of blackjack for a long time. The Schlesinger name has appeared many times as author of articles in Blackjack Forum magazine, and many of those articles went on to become recognized as classics. Now all of those articles have been organized into one book: Blackjack Attack. Everybody seems to be assuming that Blackjack Attack is going to be recognized as a classic, and I share that opinion of the book.
Don's specialty is shedding light on some of the puzzles of blackjack in words that we all can understand. Don knows his mathematics, but he does not overwhelm his readers with formulas or numbers.
Don also is a player. His idea of a vacation is to fly his whole family to a top hotel at a casino destination, catch a few rays by the pool, eat gourmet meals, and spend the rest of his time making small piles of hundred-dollar bills grow into large piles of black chips at the blackjack tables.
Chapter titles of Blackjack Attack:
- Back-counting the shoe game
- Betting techniques and win rates
- Evaluating the new rules and bonuses
- Some statistical insights
- The "illustrious 18
- The "floating advantage"
- Team play
- Camouflage for the basic strategist and the card counter
- Risk of ruin
- The "world's greatest BJ simulation"
- Before you play, know the SCORE
- New answers to old questions
- Some final "words of wisdom" from cyberspace
Blackjack Attack is 346 pages and contains an index. It does not contain basic strategy or a card-counting system, so it cannot be the only blackjack book in your library. But if your blackjack library contains only two books, Blackjack Attack ought to be one of them.
The price is $19.95 plus shipping (plus sales tax if sent to a Nevada address). Blackjack Attack is available from:
